The situation

What was the problem?

There was an anterior crossbite: one or more upper teeth closed behind the lower ones. This can cause tooth wear and gum problems.

The solution

How did we solve it?

We moved the teeth into the correct bite with orthodontics, so the upper teeth properly cover the lower ones. A retainer holds the result.

The most common fears

What people worry about, put to rest

Did it hurt?

The appliance did not hurt. During the movement there was temporary mild pressure.

Were teeth extracted?

No. We corrected the bite by moving the teeth, without extractions.

How long did it take?

An anterior crossbite can often be corrected quickly, frequently in 6 to 12 months, sometimes within a year.

The result

A correct bite, protected teeth

The teeth meet correctly, which prevents wear and gum injury. The smile became more aligned.

Common questions

Does a crossbite correct itself?

No. A crossbite does not improve without treatment, so it's worth correcting in good time to protect the teeth.

Is it better to treat it in childhood?

Often yes, but it can be corrected in adults too. At the consultation we tell you what's best in your case.

Next step

Is this your situation too?

If this sounds familiar, don't put it off any longer. At a consultation we look at exactly where you stand and tell you what the solution could be. With no commitment.
